Crude oil differential blow outs, interest rate hikes, competing shareholder interests, an angry past employer, the global pandemic, panicky lenders, new competitors, tight Canadian banks, credit requirements, negative oil prices, pipeline apportionment, cash calls … these are a few of the challenges we encountered starting an energy company 4.5 year ago.

Broadbill Energy (BBE) is boutique midstream infrastructure company that has experienced hyper growth since its inception in 2018. With 8 facilities across western Canada servicing >60 customers, BBE has established itself uniquely and successfully in the Canadian oil and gas midstream sector. With secured capital to support its growth, BBE is poised to double in size again in the next 12 months.

We would like to present the truth: the good, the bad, and the ugly of starting an energy company from the ground up. Our hope is for this discussion to inspire and support those who are thinking of taking the leap into entrepreneurship.
