David will be providing a market update and opportunities for the energy industry, including:
- Our sector is being priced like we do not need hydrocarbons in 25 years… here is why we will need them globally far longer
- Where are we in the current commodity lifecycle
- There is an opportunity, especially for Canadian companies, as terminal value gets re-rated over time
- Structural underinvestment setting the stage for “higher for longer” commodity prices - Energy representation and valuations have never been more compelling
- Very little debt in the system reduces risk and supports multiple expansion for energy equities

David Szybunka, CFA - Senior Portfolio Manager & Co-Managing Director, Energy Team
David joined Canoe Financial LP ("Canoe") in 2019 and has more than 15 years’ experience in portfolio management and energy equities analysis. Previously, he worked at Rayne Capital as the Head Energy Portfolio Manager. Prior to that, David was Associate Portfolio Manager on the Canoe Energy team. His career in the energy industry started as a Financial Analyst with Peters & Co, a Calgary-based energy investment dealer.
David has a Bachelor of Commerce (finance) from the University of Alberta and is a CFA Charterholder.
